12.75 million in sales with a lot of that being profit with silver at $28 and selling them for $75 an ounce, not a bad day for the mint!
I'm one of the 85,O00+
Am I special?
The dealers are just probably watching...
If they only average 20K a day for the rest of the period, it will a good set to have and probably increase the value of the 2011's

My order for twenty thousand went through just fine. I set a few reminders to cancel all but three on July 5th.![]()
Im still reluctant to pull the trigger but depending on the numbers I may go for the 10 sets I originally were going to buy, time will tell the sorid tale.

121,304 As of today, what happened to all the cry babies who moaned they didnt get in on the 25th anniversary set.
Peoples know it dang near unlimited mintage. It'll pick toward the end. I bet the big speculators (TPG'ers/TV hucksters) will load the wagon before the closing bell.
They're passing because the mintage numbers on this set will be too high.....and THEN they will whine when the numbers come in lower that predicted and they didn't get any...(I'm still going for over 500k but I could be pleasingly wrong)
I know I am setting myself up for a flaming here BUT....when the ordering day arrived for the 25th Annie set I was on vacation with my family in Florida. I took two people and my laptop to Panera Bread in Ft. Myers...and using their slow wifi we were able to place 3 separate orders for 5 sets each. Yes, it took a while but we just kept trying and were rewarded with 15 sets within a couple of hours.
I still find it strange that some still whine about not being able to get any sets at all....what they should say is that they tried to get though a few (many) times, got frustrated, gave up, came back a couple hours later, same deal, gave up and after that it was history. SO a big uproar was made and THIS set is the result....overpriced and minted to demand....feel free to place your orders now (when you have the time that is)
This is NOT directed at those who have day jobs and couldn't get the chance to try and order sets. Those are the ones that should be and are frustrated....
You forgot the third option. Those who did get their order placed BUT had it cancelled by the mint. I fall into that category. So the SF set is no consolation to those of us in that category.
Yes, in this case, I was Mr Unlucky. My error was ordering too late in the day. But I do not whine about it. There will be other issues of interest to invest in.
I think the Mint made a huge error by allowing a limit of 5 per order on a mintage of 100k. They knew this set was going to be huge in the numi world, but choose to look the other way. So now, thanks to your whiners, we have a bloated offering with questionable future appeal ($).
Sadly, I think the mint is going to use this offering as a basis for future issues. Don't be surprised to see more "mint to demand" offerings coming out. It's good for them, the congressmen stay off their backs and they make more money. It's a win-win for them and a lose-lose for us.
And yes, I did order one SF set, but only one.
+1000 to everything stated above. We all had weeks to prepare for the 25th set sales day last year so friends/family could have been recruited if you were at work or otherwise busy. We all knew ahead of time it would be a fiasco and true to form the mint didn't disappoint :\. I do feel bad for the ones that the mint screwed via cancelled orders (like Mr.Lucky) and 80 year old's with no computers who never got through on the phone, but the vast majority of whiners were not in those camps.
FWIW I'm surprised at the numbers on these sets thus far. I was expecting an initial push of 200k or more. I think these have a very strong chance at ending under 500K and potentially under 400k now. One thing is for certain and that's if numbers are super low (say under 275K) during the last week we're going to see a huge push at the end. I wouldn't be surprised to see more sell in the last week than the first week especially if silver starts to run this month. Conversely if PMs dive in price over the next couple of weeks we'll all be pleasantly surprised at how low these numbers stay. As such I'm rooting for $25 silver right now![]()

These are expensive for two silver coins that might have the dreaded milk spots (hint, 25th anniversary proof). But I'd get a set or two if they dip south after the flippers get done flipping.
Boy that 25th anny set sure will be a benchmark for years to come. We are a part of US mint / numismatic history for certain.

Right on!!!...and I am still adding to my history collection...
..and... I am also very surprised at the low numbers so far..I would have bet that they would have sold 500k but so far these are treading very lite and may be less than that number....significantly....but time will tell
Regarding silver spot price and this set see my comment on the other thread...not a real factor
Even with 80,000 the first day and 100,000+ the last and several thousand a day in between we are looking at lower than expected numbers. The 25th anniversary set had a strict cut off of 100,000. If there are 150,000 people who really want a set then price gets driven way up. It may be the case that there are not as many hard core hobbyists out there hankering for a set as many people think. If there are only 150,000 hard core eagle collectors then maybe we see only a few hundred thousand sold. One for each collector and excess for dealers, investors, speculators and would be market makers.
Let's not forget that there will be thousands of crazed people who will mysteriously choose not to place a simple order from the mint, the origin of the object they desire, and will instead wait until the sets hit ebay and pay twice the price at auction.![]()

I can see them selling next to nothing for the next 2 weeks, then doing well over 100k the last week.
Think I'll let my order of 20 stand. I'm going to cherry pick the best ones to submit, then dump the rest on ebay. If I can get net the issue price on those sets, I'll be happy.
138,863 Looks like interest is waining and it also looks like the wack is on this week in metals, silver could be poised for a 2/4 buck hit that would further make sales scarcer.
