I have no idea how customs and stuff like that works. The seller would have to cover all fees before they ship it right?

I.e. none of the mail services will ever charge you for receiving a package correct?

Thanks for any info, very hard to find information about this.

If the receiving country has customs fees, then the receiver will have to pay those fees before he can get delivery. I have received several items in the USA that were sent from Hong Kong, and there were no fees to worry about. Once while I was in a different country, I requested a free video tape from a USA company, but I had to pay an import fee in the other country before I could take delivery on that free tape.

I used to be a Power Seller on FleaBay, until they raised the fees (again and again and again) to exorbitant levels.

It's up to each individual seller to set the pricing for shipping and other costs, adn who pays for what. It should all be spelled out in detail in the auction listing. If it's not explained in enough detail, ask the seller.

I refused to sell to anybody outside the US because it just wasn't worth the extra time and headaches to handle international shipments.

it should be a rather small package(under a pound) from Ireland, do you think I will have any fees? I should probably try and cancel the transcation before it gets shipped if thats the case because its a low value item and not worth having to pay customs.....

Been doing some research and I read that typically their will be no custom charge for incoming packages to USA unless it's worth $200 plus.

Not sure if that is true though, just what I read.

Not sure how thorough Customs are the the US....

I have bought many things from different countries, mostly the US, and have found that duty or import fees etc. charges are somewhat random. Even if sellers have filled out the 'green' export forms (or whatever they are) listing prices and items...I seldom get charged for anything. I've had $1000+ things come straight through and been charged duty on items for under $300...go figure. But it hardly ever happens coming into Canada. Maybe larger packages are treated differently though.
