I'm very surprised that lady isn't sitting in county jail. The public utility has easement rights given by the customer when she signed up for service.

Jesus if it's that large of a problem then wait until the guy leaves and cut the wires. Now then, I burn through lots of juice. I gots shop to light, mills for milling, drills for drilling, welder's welding. And a Snap On Machine for setting dwell. Plus now I got the feds wondering where all of this juice is going. they don't have enough for a warrant and it's pissing them off bad I won't just let them in. SO they can help me use less juice. I don't mind. Let the games begin. If anybody wants to know, I have some shipping tomorrow. Then some more everyday next week. It's high dollar stuff too. Shipping Fed Ex, US Mail, UPS, DHS. Whoever gives me the best per pound rate. I know what is suspected. That is the hilarious part. Good. Focus on me. That way some poor fool just trying to feed his kid is being left in peace. I got the big shoulders. I'll carry the load.

it's the same here in Canada: Agenda 21 psychopaths implementing their control freak agenda to horn in on your private life, ostensibly to save the taxpayer a paltry few bucks, with a little "sustainability" rhetoric thrown in, and "Oh, it won't be used to infringe on your privacy," and "There's no health risk: our authorized subject-matter-expert-mouthpiece says so." But rates are going up with the installations. My neighbors are furious. So it's no cost saving. It's a cash grab, with eventual implementation of more detailed reporting.
It must be true. If it isn't, there would no longer be any justification for going wireless. The wired system worked perfectly well and didn't cost billions.
It's evil. The reasons given are lies.

since she cited the Constitution, I figure the same is true for the utility company. Where in the Constitution does it state that they even have to provide her electricity. If you want service from someone, whether an individual or utility, you will have to abide by their terms of providing you service. If you don't like the terms, then find alternate solutions. I am sure TnAndy can set the lady up with a $25K solution to her not wanting a smart meter on her property (but I am guessing she does not want that responsibility).
Sorry, but the lady is in the wrong here, even though I am not a smart meter fan.

Want the old analog meter ?
No problem. $50/month charge for our meter reader to drive out and read it.
"They can tell when you're running your computer, ( or this or that ) because they all put off a different signature " ????
ahahahahaaaaa......what a crock. The paranoia over this issue is totally funny. When the local utility puts out bids for a Cray super computer to sort out all the possible implications from the massive amount of data to determine when I flip on the lights in a room ( never mind the WHY ), then he can start worrying.
And the "radio transmission could hurt us"......yeah.....as they stand in front of their microwave oven popping corn to go sit in front of their 55" TV.....yeah.....I'd really worry about that little fractional watt transmitter in the power meter.......ahahahahahahaaaa
And some people wonder WHY I go to town armed..........

can't you just build a faraday cage around it?
The utility company has easement access so they can maintain their equipment. The instillation of a real time monitoring device on your residence is a totally different matter and is a 4th amendment issue. One must keep in mind that the utility that is insisting on installing this surveillance device has been awarded a monopoly, and is bullying people into accepting the instillation of these devises. I've had the opportunity of resisting this intrusion of my families privacy and I can tell you they know they have no legal right to install these new meters so use bully tactics instead.
If the second amendment isn't so we can protect our 4th amendment rights, what is it for?
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
I suspect the data metrics they can gather with these meters will be used (sold) for marketing purposes and for law enforcement purposes.

I don't have time to watch the video at the moment as I'm about to dash out the door, but I'm wondering, did the utility give the homeowner advance notice that they'd be coming to install the new meter, or did they just show up?
A Faraday cage would just protect electronics from solar flares and/or EMP attacks, wouldn't it?
What I've been wondering (and maybe this would be a good topic for another thread) is if strong magnets could help disrupt devices such as this meter, GPS tracking devices, RFID chips, etc. Any insights?

Like I have said before, I would rather have a smart meter on my home than a meter reader on my place every month. The information they may gather from the smart meter pales in comparison to the information they can gather by having boots on my ground every month.
I would almost guarantee my wireless router and cell phone booster put out 4 times the power into the air than the smart meter.

And THERE it is.....an ACTUAL reason to be paranoid !
Everybody in the valley got a smart meter BUT me, because I have two special meters for my solar infeed, and when they came to change them out said "Uh....don't have that kind....they'll have to come back with them".....so, now, every month, I have to let the meter reader in the gate for a tour.
I ask every month....."When my radio meter going in ? "
"Don't know".......

. If GIM was a real place I'd definitely show up there armed.
If you looked at me the way your avatar does, I'd carry too.
