    Default Interesting day today

Went to work as usual, then about 12:30, a few of the office folks come out telling us to lock all the doors, I go up front to the other managers and am told, that a former employee, who is a disturbed drunk and druggie was on his way to shoot up the place and us evidently. So we lock down, customers and all, and wait......an HOUR for the cops to show up. They say he is travelling south on the road AWAY from us and they are following him,OK we reopen, and another employee comes back from lunch and says the guy is about 1 mile away, heading our direction......the cops were following the WRONG car!. So, we lock back up, and he doesnt arrive, then the cops say they cant do anything as all he done is verbal threats.. what a legal system we have.

    Sounds like quite the day!

Who all heard him say that he was going to "shoot up the place"?

911 called the office and notified them, that he had just stormed out of his shrinks office and told him that.

So you all locked yourself in like sitting ducks? Given the intel you received I would have exited stage left and told them to give me a call when the cops are done mopping up the mess.

The cops couldn't arrest him for threats or terroristic threats? Around here they would. I take it he is "a disgruntled exemployee"?

His exact location wasnt known, the town is NOT a large city with close together buildings, but is a building situated in a large parking lot , approx 10 acres in size, If he would have been outside in a position, anyone leaving the building would be exposed to fire. with few places to take cover, also the customers are also our responsibility, to abandon them would be wrong. some were elderly and one had a small child. Our parts department was the best place, as it has access to five secure outside doors, and only one from the interior. If he intended to try and and attack from the interior, which he would have to to cause any casualties, he would have been faced with a small opening to shoot through, This we felt would give the best chance of escape, once he was inside the building.

You are correct that he is a disgruntled employee. I was also wary that he was also an ex-Marine. My experiences in the military, have given me the knowledge that one of these is exceptionally dangerous in this type of situation,I have never considered the Marines as very intelligent, but very determined when inclined and very dangerous with any type of weapon.

lol Don't know about you but I'd probably be using a few sick or personal days. Ya never know what a nut job who thinks he's been wronged is capable of. If he thinks the entire company is "out to get him" he may wire the place with explosives and blow the place to smithereens when it's packed with people.

    (*snicker*)

I wuz thinkin' about that "dumb marine" appellation...

My great Unca was the Commandant of the Whole Fargin Mahreen Coah...

    Lt. Gen Edward WALTER Snedeker:

Was with the 1st Div at Guadalcanal, commanded the 7th Marines at Okinawa, commanded the 1st Division at the landing in Wonsan, Korea. He was awarded the Navy Cross, the Silver Star Medal, the Legion of Merit with Combat "V" and gold stars in lieu of second and third awards, the Bronze Star Medal with Combat 'V', the Air Medal with gold star in lieu of a second award and the Navy Commendation with Combat 'V'.

Hadda be one dumb marine to get hisself in alla that crap...
