    Hi all
I am new to this forum and I am finding a lot of good information. I have been a silver stacker for some time now. I have bar that I have been curious about and have found no definative answers. I was wondering if anyone here has any knowledge of this bar.
    Thank you.

Drill out a few grams and send the cuttings to an assayer.

Edit: Now that I see the picture, it looks legit.

    Hi Gcubed,
That wasn't the exact one I have. This is the one I have. I just need to know a bit of it's history and value.
Thank you for your quick reply.

Likely made in the 80's. It's worth ten ounces of silver.

Presumed to have been produced by Engelhard. They are the same size and shape as the straight-edged bars Engelhard produced - note that the stamped characters and the eight-sided shape also matches the Engelhard bars.

Note also the info on the page at http://about.ag/Engelhard-10oz.htm

Thank you for your reply. It does look like mine. I have seen that particular bar on the net. I have searched eBay over the years and I have only seen three up for bids and one of them was mine. The latest two were out of the range I wanted to pay. Of course I only paid $188.00 for mine back then.
    Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. I think it was made for by the now defunct Gold Standard Corporation, but I'm not sure.

    Yes.
And the Gold Standard Corporation was the Liberty Dollar of it's day.
It's founder was as crazy as Bernie von Nuthouse in more ways than one.

You are pretty sharp for an old curmudgeon.

I was very impressed. Not that it really matters a hill of beans.

    But that was VERY astute.

I'm glad to see someone else has tired old eyes. Between staring at the computer all day and trying to read dates on coins, my best days are clearly over. Have you changed your thoughts on my silver bar?

That is the problem with a scanner, especially a cheap one. They have a problem with depth perception.

Would it not be easier for someone to stamp a fake serial number than an entire die? Personally would test it before buying it though.
