    Default E.Coli Outbreak

Romaine Lettuce in 23 States and DC being re-called.

CS users may want to start on a regiment. As E.Coli may have already spread to 23 states, and DC.
Pay attention Romaine Lettuce and salad eaters.

    OR
A feedlot uphill nearby, or flooding in. Beef feeds lots seem to be one of the biggest culprits for E.Coli.
One of the best reasons to buy beef NOT raised on Antibiotics, and things cows do not naturally want to eat.
They want grasses. That's why they chew cud and have so many stomachs; to digest grasses.

Well...I think this gets traced back to Yuma Az...no beef lots there.

But point taken, could have been a small herd of mule-deer in for the evening of fresh salad...

I don't think we can blame wildlife. I am in my 50's I don't recall such outbreaks in the 60's.
My belief is these outbreaks began when it was found that certain ( No-Longer effective for combating germs and microbes) antibiotics found a market / home in cattle feed. These "additives" were found to increase weight quicker than the feeds of the day w/o them.

Now it seems we do not go a warm season without an E.Coli outbreak.

Ever notice "Natural Raised" / "No Drugs / Steroids" cattle do not appear on re-calls due to E.Coli ??

This is why I make a gallon at a time. I soak all salad supplies in CS before serving. Do you really think that those pickers are going to walk all that way to go to the toilet?

Hepatitis A (foodborne) is pretty wicked. It only takes ~10 virus particles to transmit the disease, and that amount is in 10 BILLIONTHS of a gram of feces from an infected person. Even with proper hand washing, I'm not sure it would remove contamination to that extent.

I'm glad that I was vaccinated against Hep A about 5 years ago before traveling to China. Just in case.
