thanks for sharing your pics. What all did you plant?

I weeded for the first time this past weekend. feel like I have been hit by a truck since (can't believe the level of soreness). netted 40-50 pounds of weeds. still have a 1/3 of the garden to weed.

planted zuch, cucumbers, leeks, tomato, yellow squash, peppers

anyone have a canning recipee for zuch or squash?

I see tons of weeds in there. Looks like the grass is taller than the crops in that squash bed. Have you considered using plastic rows with drip irrigation below the plastic? They make a plastic laying implement for your tractor. You could spray roundup (or just mow) in the rows with that setup to keep the weeds at bay. Definitely worth consideration since it eliminates weeding, conserves water, and makes crop management much easier. Good for strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, summer squash, beans, and many other fruits and vegetables. Don't use it for grain crops or vine crops.

This garden is at my play farm. Most of what we eat from the gardens are at my home, the one in the picture just has sweet corn and pumpkins. Weeds have been a battle. I thought I planted the rows of pumkins far enough apart to pull a disc, through, but can't. A cultivator only gets a foot or two away from the rows. I have a pretty good size potato patch, and a couple pretty good buckwheat fields in anouther patch not in these pictures. Also a couple acres in sunflowers, buckwheat and milo for a dove field/ widlife plot. Wheat and buckwheat I'll use a scythe to harvest and hand thresh a bushel or so. I make alot of bread from wheat using a country living hand mill. Been buying from honeville grain in 50 pound sacks, but figured why not grow it. I am working on a small thresher. We did some by hand last year and it is hard work. Anyway, thought you folks might enjoy a couple photos.
