At work I feed the ravens scraps from lunch, the pair that hangs out there all the time I call Frank and Fanny. So yesterday my co-worker got involved, brought a bag of fish guts to share with them. After about 15 minutes there were maybe 30 ravens arguing over the scraps then two bald eagles appeared. Splendiferous!! One eagle would sweep through the flock of ravens that all tried to chase him (her?) off, and the other eagle would swoop in and grab a fish head. Quite entertaining LOL

That is a nice distraction. A couple days ago I had a big bald eagle circling low out at my place. Always a pleasure to see. A few years ago I saw one try to catch a woodchuck. His talon must have been just inches from the back of the woodchuck as he ran. Just missed him unfortunately.

Just watched a close-up of Second egg while Harriett was housekeeping. What looked like a a hatching was actually E9's shell capping and shadowing the second egg.
During this viewing the camera zoomed in on a speck on the second egg. I think it is a pip as the speck seemed to grow a little and the zoom view appeared to show movement inside BUT that could be focusing apparitions.
Anyway E9 moved ( more like staggered)around alittle as mom housekept before she settled back in to keep egg & E9 warm.

Keep missing M15 aka OZZIE and feedings (DARN).

Prior to cutting down a redwood tree a few years back, the developer of the property in San Jose hired a professional to remove the Golden Eagles from their nest.

I watched them use fireworks to harass the raptors until they left the nest.

4:04 E9 falls asleep ( head goes down beak first into the nest)while Harriette is trying to feed him. Harriette nestles him back to bed.

Haven't notice any action on the other egg.

In the 60+ years, where I've lived, I've seen many raptors in the wild but not until last year had I seen a Bald Eagle in the wild.
Now to see this in Real Time to me it is amazing.

Ozzie hit a pay streak today TWO fish one looks like a nice size crappie the other a bass.
At this time E9 is on one side of the nest sleeping and Harriette is taking some personal time and feeding on the other.
Looks like a sunny day there, light wind.

As the Eagle Soars - An eagle soap opera.
Well folks to my chagrin Ozzie is out of the picture and has been for sometime now. And it looks like MURDER.
Back in September 2015 Ozzie was seen in a fight close to the nest.
"A love triangle between bald eagles that played out before thousands of fans on a live webcam has ended badly in Florida with the death of Ozzie, longtime mate of Harriet, according to a Florida wildlife clinic. Ozzie was critically wounded on Sept. 20 in an aerial battle with his rival, known as Frequent Visitor, who had been stalking Harriet's nest as Thursday's start of mating season approached, the clinic said.
He died Tuesday evening of cardiac arrest.
Bald eagles mate for life and eagle watchers had seen Ozzie and Harriet together for more than 20 years. They raised children for the past three seasons before more than 16 million viewers on the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam on a Fort Myers ranch where the two settled in 2006.
"A very sad day but amazing to hear how Ozzie has touched so many," said a post on the SWFL Eagle Cam Twitter account late Wednesday.
Ozzie collapsed Sunday of septic shock from his wounds, said Heather Barron, the avian medical specialist and surgeon who treated Ozzie at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) on Sanibel Island near Fort Myers on Florida's southwest coast.

He underwent two surgeries, treatment with intravenous fluids and powerful antibiotics, and open-chested cardiopulmonary resuscitation before dying in front of his medical team.

"There was just no bringing him back. We all tried so hard," Barron said.

More than 3,822 notes of condolence had been posted as of Thursday afternoon on the eagle cam Facebook page.

Barron estimated Ozzie was in his 30s and in the upper end of his expected life span.

The beginning of the end for Ozzie came in March after he suffered broke bones, possibly after being hit by a train or car, and spent three months in the spring recuperating at CROW’s hospital.

While he was gone, the cam was getting 200,000 hits a day from fans who also followed his progress on Facebook, according to the Fort Myers News-Press.

He returned to the nest in June to find that Harriet had been stepping out with a new potential mate, Frequent Visitor, who remained in the area. Barron said the fight for mating rights, particularly with a younger male, was common in nature.

"He went out in a blaze of glory," Barron said of Ozzie. "He fought the good fight."

(Editing by David Adams and Bill Trott)

Added Info. by Gb - Frequent Visitor is now known as M15, Harriette's mate for a year and half now.
and Harriette is a COUGAR !!!!

That must have been an awesome sight. I am guessing eagles do the same thing that osprey do. When an osprey flies with a big fish they will point the fish forward to be more aerodynamic. Not something I ever noticed until I saw it mentioned on a documentary and sure enough within a few weeks I saw an osprey flying with a fish holding it just that way.

FINALLY, Got to see Harriette & M15 at the nest at the same time. M15 is slightly smaller and it appears his plumage is deeper in color, their "bald" heads seem identical in clean white color.
E9 is getting stronger. He doesn't wobble and bobble around near as much. He kept his eyes and head on prize ( food) as of today as Mom & Dad tag teamed feeding him and he seemed to be picky at who was providing the best piece of chow.

It does look like M15 is a little less patience than Harriette in feeding E9. If E9 is too slow M15 gobbles the offer and goes and get another parcel to offer the eaglet.

This is Great TV ( in my book anyway).

Thanks for the updates. Way better than TV in my opinion as well. I can sit watch the birds when I have time and never get bored.

There went a large raptor across my view just now. Guessing it was a red tailed hawk but couldn't tell with the current lighting. I am lucky to see them frequently here.

Just got back after two days away from the eagles. E9 has had crazy size growth since last viewed.
E9 is sleeping out from under Mom and Dad tonight 75 degrees F, Clear, little to NO wind.
Non-viable egg is still in the nest. I don't know how that will be resolved.

Chow brought to the nest. Slim pickens today "Bluegill" on the menu today. No nice size catfish or bass today.
In two days E9 has went from white plumage to gray. The gray does help him blend in with the sticks that make the outside support of the nest though.
E9 is getting around the nest better each day.

Two Bluegill in the nest. E9 is being fed on a fish I can't see, Three fish total.

Heard some chirping and jump over to the page just in time to see E9 back-up to the edge of the soft part of the nest and shoot a waste bag clear of the nest. WILD
