A Visual Demonstration of How Fast the NYT Got Woke

Many trends develop over decades, but few have been as rapid as concerns over social justice.

Politics NYT New York Times The Media Woke

Many trends develop over decades but I’ve never seen change so rapid as the breathtaking success of what one might call social justice concerns. Beginning around 2010-2014 there appears to have been an inflection point. Here from Zach Goldberg on Twitter are various words drawn from Lexis-Nexis.

And here from David Rizardo is a longer list all drawn from the NYTimes. Rizardo has a page where you can graph the trends for words of your own choosing.

You might think this is a secret agenda but its not. When 'journalists' get together at their seminars this is what they talk and obsess over. I live in a fairly white town but our local newspaper seems to always have pictures of minorities in special interest stories. You know, like a group of schoolkids playing a game, something like that. It always seemed to be more 'diverse' than the average classroom might be. I found out this is by design. They are 'supposed' to make sure there is more inclusion in pictures and stories.

Of course its spilled over into the social justice concerns. You see gay, global warming etc. a lot more in the press than you really should. They are agenda driven outlets, not news outlets.
