According to the article, the last year's production was only 760 million ounces. In recent history, the number 900 million was thrown around a lot, but I believe it included "reclaimed" silver.

It's good to read "what", but I also want to understand the "why". EO makes an excellent point that a great part of silver production is secondary. So it would be good to include some facts on copper (and gold? lead? tin?) refining, which is a strong part of silver supply.
