As we appear to live in different areas and have different flora and fauna I figured I would show some of the colors I live with and would hope some of you would show yours. We have more Canola[Rape] growing around here this year than I think I've ever seen before and it's yellow out. I drove through 1,400 acres of this yellow yesterday and if the bugs hit I'll follow my tracks in 2 weeks.

The first crop should be the same color as the background crop but the fellow is a mite later at getting things done than others.

Nah.........that area is an older area in central / upper Bucks. It's kinda touristy so they want to keep it that way.

These pics are from Philly - a bit closer to home

I'm not much on human habitation and the only thing I seen in them last pics that was of interest was toooooooooo far away to tell if i wanted to get closer or not. By your pics I'm starting to understand why so many folk down there want to be able to carry a gun. I'm almost willing to bet most would be scared up here with no one around.

I live just out side of NE Philly and the area is very heavily populated with lots of traffic (and traffic congestion.) When I was a kid the area I'm in was mostly farm lands and woods. It started to change in the late 1960's and is now a city. Lots of houses (singles and townhouses [row houses]), apartments, hotels, stores, malls, bars, restaurants and a casino.

The rush hour traffic can be a night mare if you have to use the main roads. And there is a good bit of crime in some areas.

While the over crowding, traffic and crime are a down side there is a upside. There are a lot of nice parks, you don't have to travel far to shop (stores glaore here) and if you enjoy going out there are lots of good places to go. And we're also pretty close to the shore.

We build a lot of what we need and I'm not good in cities. If I strike up a conversation[what I always do] with people there they usually run or cower. I have no idea how you can get that many people together and be lonely but it sure seems to happen a lot.

That first flower is amazing Mr. Stack.
We also have silver.

We call them silver willow, some call them wolf willow. Moose, muleys and porcupines browse on them.

It is kinda/sorta a fact that people get so caught up in chasing after something to please them that they pass right by the best things in life. I got a notion fro the pics I've seen of the fall colors in New England that I'd be in awe there. Those Jasmine flowers look like stars to me. Gonna go see if the blue is ready for a pic yet.

Hey P,
I used ta listen to a lotta tapes and such while driving.
One guy said we are always trying to " expand " our circle of pleasures.
His approach was to maybe NOT rush to try and expand but first look around, pleasure is already here naturally.
I can sure see that from your first pics.
Then the guy said next thing you need to do is take care of something that is buggin ya...
A pain of sorts...
By doing that, as simple as it may be, cleaning the closet, writing a short note, making a call, whatever...insert your own list here...lol
Then you have not only eliminated a pain but expanded your circle of pleasures at the same time.
Good stuff imo.All depends on how you see stuff sometimes.
Back a little later P.

Thanks for all the great pics everyone! I really like seeing photos like the above from named places and areas around the country and even from around the world.

It's been a beautiful, cool summer up here in northern Indiana. Flowers and fruit are a bit sparse this year thanks to the extended winter but the ones hardy enough to make it through have been glorious!

We don't have the rape fields or the sunflower fields like you would see in Canada or Kansas but our usual corn, soy and wheat fields are looking real good despite damaging storms. The fruit trees and vines in southwest lower Michigan have been devastated by the extended winter and storms this year so what little does make it to market will be quite expensive. I'm kind of waiting for those Hoosier cantaloupe (BEST in the country!) to see how good they are this year. Blueberries should be in soon (this IS the land of blueberries around here as evidenced by the Blueberry Festival). Plenty of rain but not quite enough heat. This is going to affect tomatoes too. Despite the vigorous weather this year looks like we're headed toward a fairly decent harvest overall.

We got blacks too.

And some whites.

The blue I mentioned earlier[I'll try for a better pic in a day or two, we have smoke haze here from Northern fires now.]

The green's much nicer this time of year than the white :beerglass:
I could live with some white today as it's a sweltering 82F and everyone around me is [female dogging] about it.

Season's are a changing and the colors change too. I've spent the last 11 days driving around in ripe wheat/barley fields that few will ever be allowed to do.

This is a river valley I spray above and it is truly amazing how much green has been sucked out of it.

I was hoping for that. The funny thing about us as people is we think what we see is seen by everyone. What is mundane to you is probably new and wonderful to someone else.

The harvest of grain is done here though some still have the straw in the field... some are now harvesting sweet corn and then there is the silage corn which hasn't started yet.

BUT me...hahaha...I am doing alright but am now harvesting rats in my legholds...and, using poison also....humm maybe I'll post a pick of a dead rat in a leg hold...? Oh, I would like to advise you IF you... yes you would like to have in your possession a rat carcase...yes I will gut and freeze it, but not skin it.... I will ship to you such debris, you just have to pay shipping....I will stock up rats to be efficient on the shipping if you want.

yep f'n rats are ringing my corn.....so I have many rats toooooof'n spare...my crisis....your pleasure...!

Fall fell.

Row of trees used to slow wind.

Black is a favorite color this time of year.

We get some cool colors but only small doses as compared to some of you guys I'm betting.
Wish I was good with a camera cause the Northern lights have been out standing this last couple weeks early in the evening too.

The pics were taken in the Churchville Nature Center (http://www.churchvillenaturecenter.org/)

Some of the parks around here have a good bit of wildlife (hard to imagine being so close to the city) and some hold deer hunts to cull the population before winter hits. Once it starts to cool off I'll have a lot more pics to post.

One of the places I like to walk in is Neshaminy State Park (http://www.stateparks.com/neshaminy_state_park_in_pennsylvania.html?) They used to have a bunch of deer until they allowed hunting (bow & arrow only) Now ya can hardly see a deer there. I'll get some pics from there in a week or 2.

As you can see - the leaves still have a good way to go before they turn colors
