Commentary re Map Coordinates/Companies/Interest

Needed a place to have running commentary for locations on the map.

We now have it in a separate sub-forum devoted to the map.

You can start threads for each particular location as you prefer,

It is completely incomplete. There are far more than two mines along the Carlin Trend and Kennecott Utah Copper may as well be a gold mine. I'm not knocking it, just saying there is a lot missing on there.

Sure is, and that is why I need to keep adding over time,

But need actual coordinates to do so, which I have been getting from company names and address of sites.

Most companies only list address of home office in Vancouver or some such, rather than actual mine address

Coordinates: 39°50′00″N 121°38′40″W
1859 a 54 pound troy gold nugget was discovered & a 5 pound one was found the summer of 2014 on public land.

You can go places 20 minutes from my house where old timers live on their claims in tiny trailers, down 10 miles of never maintained

The irony that any serious gold-bug would provide the coordinates of their big find.

I come from a family of gold diggers on my mom's side.
They all had mines and claims with coordinates from which they "claimed" to have found whatever gold was assayed and exchanged for FRNs, but they all had secret claims, all of which went with them to the grave.

I once met a family friend who bought a piece of property in Downieville and built a house on it.

He showed us the mine shaft in the basement, which means it was already picked clean.

Gold is where you find it, after all.
