lots of divy payers getting into buy range. considering adding a bit to my cisco position. thing is yielding a little over 4% at today's price. hard to get decent yield out of high tech sector. their current situation isnt great - but they have the horsepower/money to come up with a next big thing

I'm probably not going to buy until after the election. The market has given up on a stimulus happening before then. The virus is re-surging. Shutdowns are reappearing. Generally a doom and gloom outlook. I probably bought too soon in the initial crash, but I have some good holding none the less. But I think I'll sit on my powder this time and wait a bit. Stocks fall fast, but rise slower. By the time things decide to turn around, I'll be waiting at the gate with cash in hand. No one ever went broke holding cash.

I’m guessing that was before the drop.

I got my eye on INTC ....they got hammered this week. Charts telling me it maybe time to start nibbling but I’m hesitant to make a major purchase before the (s)election next week.

this morning, when dow was down eight hundred or so - went to my watch list to see if anything looked interesting. been wanting to add to csco and amcr for a while. was glad to get the opportunity.

kmi has been hammered - again - like the rest of the oils. started buying it just recently. still a ways to go to fill out my position

checked out intc. i'm a potential buyer at 33. probably wont get that low - unless things really get crazy

generally i limit my buy price to the amount of the quarterly dividend. intc pays 33 cents a quarter = stock must be 33 dollars or below to get me really interested

today's buys --

bought csco at 35.x, pays 36 cent dividend

amcr at 10.x, pays 11.5 cent dividend

kmi at 11.x, pays 26.2 cent dividend

Your right. Radio guy said it Friday morning on the way to work. I had not been following it for a while & had no idea the price.
Did they pay a special div or was I out with Hunter smokin crack?

For the last few years they paid an annual special dividend of .13 a share.

Ford reported earnings on the 28th .... the radio guy must have misspoke.

indeed. and a 5 year chart looks just as low. i think the UK flu situation is hammering it. it goes ex dividend next week. div .488 per share

I'm long PFE as well. They seem to have a lot in the pipeline. And now we get the spinoff stock for Viatris (VTRS). Trying to decide what I want to do with that. Kind of inclined to take a bit of a flyer and add some...I would think there is more upside than downside there.

Not much else screaming "buy" right now...

agree that nothing is attractively priced right now. seems to be a mini bubble

The low interest rates made this situation IMO.

I/we can borrow on margin at 2% and the fed claims no ending in sight to the low rates.

the low rates are KILLING me. i like to buy cd's from my credit union. they are running at 1 percent or below. forcing me to go heavier into div stocks

2 percent margin loans are INSANE. if i were a younger man i would consider it

I have found the same info regarding dividend payments.

Hard to do homework...not much to research except to go back and look at Upjohn and Mylan...

Exited T at a small profit.

New position split between GOF and PTY closed end funds. Maxing out my margin limit, loling at the spread; I only pay 2% right now to borrow.

GOF is 11.9%
PTY is 9%

Both consistently pay a flat dividend monthly. YOLO!

sold out of a couple of positions completely -- ivz (invesco) and fun (cedar fair). the sales were because of my personal rules. one cut the div, the other suspended the div. also had bad entry points that went down and then worked their way back to small profit.

they are now set free to rocket higher as i watch from the sideline

Tsla was at $408 and I was waiting for it to drop to $400. It closed today at $565. On the other hand some old dogs are reaching new all time highs. Time to move some out to pasture and prepare for the next round.

negative.

i started buying before the virus. averaged down as the drama went nuclear. ended up with avg cost in mid 30's

still like the company -- but have to follow my rules (lessons learned over the years)

they bought some kick ass privately-owned texas parks that got me interested. future is bright if/when things normalize

if they start cranking out dividends again i'll be ogling them for another buy.........and likely ass kicking by next flu drama the globalists roll out

Still undecided on VTRS, I could maybe add some to my BKH position, but that is about it. Might just wait it out and see if a buying opportunity presents itself around the end of the year.

agree with your sentiment. sold some highly appreciated tech-heavy mutual fund shares today.

not seeing anything to buy. i would add to GSK if i wasnt already full of it. same with MO. aflac and sprott are on my dividend watch list, but not nibbling at these prices

Made a nice little score off Rolls Royce(RYCEY) in the last couple days. Took a big dip after dividend payment. Got in at $1.78 and then out just a bit ago at $2.50

Will look for another dip Monday morning for another chance at a scalp.

Not typically in my playbook, no, but it surely did pay off this time. Rolls was tipped to me or I likely would have missed it completely as it wasn't really on my radar at all. One of the very few positives of social media is ease of access to information.

not a bad long term bet for massive gains. that brand is highly regarded, no?

Life is good. The rising market is lifting my dogs to a point where I can sell them and not take a bath. Or at least a smaller one. Even GE is going up! :)

that's one of my only rules -- stock that goes down appreciably must be sold if/when it rebounds, erasing most/all of the loss
