I've never had a Twitter account but admit it's importance in developing national, even international, consensus. And Twitter has for years definitely run off the rails in favor of the hard left cancel culture. Musk had long been extremely critical of the hard left and had recently been making noises about creating a Twitter competitor but it looks like he's decided to go after Twitter's jugular instead. Not sure how it's going to play out but looks like his move has at least the potential to level that particular very important playing field.

This is huge folks. Musk put his money where his mouth is. Finally, a conservative - and i hate to even call him that, has put some money up to help straighten out the huge mess our society finds itself in.

The media is completely one-sided and controls everything. The media threw the election to Biden. THe media ruined Trump's 4 years in office with never ending fake scandals.

This is huge to be able to get back a small slice of the media from these crazed communists. Starting a new social media company from scratch would have taken too long and wouldn't get the views that twitter has. So much easier for Musk to just write a check and buy it up.

I wouldn't call Musk a conservative but he can be thoughtful and is opposed to censorship.

Twitter is a tool. Its great if you want to follow thought leaders, especially those that publish infrequently. For example, I follow James Turk, and usually find his commentaries (esp on silver) interesting. It can be easy to overlook his publications, so following someone can be helpful.

However, its filled with celebrities and spam and virtue signaling people commenting from the peanut gallery. Its very easy to find yourself sucked into pissing contests.

Twitter has a huge network despite all of its problems. You can't buy that sort of network effect. They have done a poor job monetizing it, even in terms of advertising. They have an opportunity to combine with a payment system or crypto network and really catapult their value. Remember, Musk started with a competitor to PayPal, and eventualy joined forces with PayPal. It will be interesting to watch.

I was able to read unlimited tweets up until a few months ago. Now I can read 4 in a row before a sign up and join pop up blocks me from advancing. The platform can be entertaining and useful in gaining insight to what is happening in this world. I'm very cautious on believing anything posted though.
