Ford: announced that on second thought they won't be moving their Kentucky plant to Mexico

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-ford-motor-idUSKBN13D08J

The MSM is spinning it that the plant wasn't slated to move dyodd

I suppose Apples announcement yesterday they were looking at brining iPhone production out of Foxconn and back to the US wax also a coincidence

http://www.cnbc.com/2016/11/18/apple-is-exploring-moving-iphone-production-to-the-us-report.html

Even if we do something like allow the workers to go tax free for a few years, this would be Yuge. Think of the EBT savings and the shift off the dole

Hate to throw cold water on this, but that plant is in my area, and the story is that they were not planning on moving or closing it.
Seems to me Ford is just saying this to take some heat off of them.
Nice story however.

If Apple does this, great. I am not holding my breath. Think of the cost of complying with EPA regulations. Personally, I think the iPhone is too expensive now, can't imagine one at twice the cost.

Interesting that the negotiations have begun and Trump hasn't even been inaugurated yet.
Trump's 200 day plan.....
“The Trump administration will reverse decades of conciliatory trade policy. New trade agreements will be negotiated that provide for the interests of US workers and companies first.”

FWIW................

Trump claims he's saved Lincoln production from being moved to Mexico after talking to CEO - but critics say the move was never on the cards
  • Trump said he spoke with Bill Ford Jr who told him that he will be 'keeping the Lincoln plant in Kentucky' and not move it to Mexico
  • Billionaire wrote on Twitter: 'I owed it to the great State of Kentucky for their confidence in me!'
  • A company spokeswoman confirmed Thursday that Ford was considering MKC production at a factory in Cuautitlan, Mexico
  • Ford has repeatedly said it has no plans to close any U.S. plants and likely could not do so under the terms of current United Auto Workers contract
  • Company also produces Ford Escape at that location and just announced plans to launch a new SuperDuty pickup to be assembled there
  • On Tuesday Ford announced it was moving ahead with plans to shift production of small cars to Mexico from Michigan

General Motors fires back at Trump: CEO says they won't change their production after president-elect slammed firm for importing cars from Mexico
  • Last week President-Elect Donald Trump threatened on Twitter to slap a border tax on GM for importing the compact Chevrolet Cruze to the US from Mexico
  • Imposing heavy tariffs on foreign goods is on Trump's pro-manufacturing agenda
  • GM CEO Mary Barra said the company only imports a small number of Cruze hatchbacks from Mexico

GM should have been allowed to go out of business the first time. By bailing them out they have learned nothing and continue with moron management and stupid affirmative action based decisions.
When they go under for the second time I doubt there will be a sugar daddy with other people's money standing there to reward them for failure.

Ford is dumping another [over] $1 billion into the Louisville plant after doing the same a couple of years ago.

The place just keeps getting bigger.

I wish they would make an "old school" Bronco. Small & reasonable price. Without all the hillbilly Cadillac features.

I would buy one.

There is hope:

Ford's Chief Technical Officer Raj Nair, however, contradicted that assertion. According to him, the new Bronco will be a unique vehicle, not a reworked Everest. Size-wise, he said expect something smaller than the Bronco II but bigger than the original Bronco. And if you're worried the new Bronco will be a glorified Explorer, don't be. He followed it up by saying ""people have an idea of what a Bronco should be. Certainly, we have an idea of what a Bronco should be, and we're going to be looking forward to bringing that to our customers."

Unfortunately, there's no telling whether or not Ford actually plans to bring back the two-door Bronco. We'd like to think it will, but the market for two-door SUVs is pretty limited. We do know, though, that it will get a removable roof. So that's encouraging.

The new Ranger however seems to be just another big pickup. They say the small 2 door pickup is history and won't be back. Too bad.
