Here's a different survivalist forum I just found.

You might glean some information that isn't here.

I had a look and it appears to me that that forum is much less sophisticated than this forum and VERY ANGRY.

People are starting to get angrier. I've been noticing this for a little while now. I keep wondering what took them so long.

I browsed around and didn't really see anything I would consider as being angry. Got a link?

One thing I did norice was a mod complaining about off topic posts in the off topic forum. Kinda made me chuckle a bit.

But an off-topic post in the off-topic forum would be... on-topic, and shouldn't be there?

That site is better moderated.
I don't know about that. I think this place is the best moderated forum I've been on in the last 20+ years.

I also like that this place is user supported. That one has ads all over it.

I haven't seen any negativity so far. I've browsed it several times and even posted there.

I thought it was interesting because it has information I've never seen before.

I posted about it here because it 'fits' as a survivalist source.

Who cares where survival info derives from? At least they're on the same page.

I get the sense they're fairly new as sites go? Maybe someone knows how to tell how long they've been around?

If we cross pollinate that's a good thing. Right?

Perusing the Survival forum I found this old thread on flour/grain mills:

Some good information therein...

Ads? don't look at them. Well moderated enough that I don't have anyone on my ignore list. That is a big plus.

I've frequented there and I'm either immune to ads, or there just aren't that many to see!

I see advertising as either informational or manipulative. Obviously, the first is fine, if done right, and the latter is never acceptable. I am bothered that so much of today's "product" is based on advertising. A useful "product" should be something that is useful, right?! I believe that an economy based on marketing and sales, and not on production, is doomed. I think we are there.

The thing with survivalist forums is they are echo chambers. Everyone just reinforces their own beliefs.

The people who like gardening are convinced WTSHTF everyone will starve. The gun enthusiasts think guns will save the day. Some folks think silver dimes are the silver bullet. The conspriacy theorists think its time to sharpen their guillotines.

Its worth taking a peak over there I guess but not something I would do everyday

C'mon, Everyone can use a little healty paranoia.
If I didn't get a healthy dose of fear I would be sitting in a house with a weeks worth of food, no guns and all my money in the bank. For those of us who are hard to motivate it is needed on occasion. Only because deep down on a logical level I realize things can not go on like they are something is going to happen and common sense preparation is required. Will it do any good in the long run. Who knows but at least I tried.
