Irish bantamweight Michael Conlan was controversially knocked out of the Olympics in a quarterfinal bout against Russia's Vladamir Nikitin, and he responded to the judges' decision by flipping both of his middle fingers and giving a profane, scathing assessment fo the state of amateur boxing to Ireland's RTE Sport.

Conlan, a bronze medalist in 2012 as a flyweight and the 2015 World Amateur Champion at bantamweight, lost in a unanimous decision to Nitkin despite clearly outlanding the Russian throughout the bout, and he accused the International Boxing Association of being "cheats."

"I don't give a [expletive], I'm cursing on TV... I was here to win Olympic gold. My dream's been shattered now. But you know what? I have a big career ahead of me. And these ones? They're known for being cheats, they'll always be cheats. Amateur boxing stinks from the core right to the top."

On Tuesday, Conlan tweeted Vladimir Putin.

Hey Vlad @PutinRF_Eng

How much did they charge you bro?? @AIBA_Boxing #Rio2016

I haven't watched one minute of the Olympics and this is part of the reason.

Any "sport" where the decision is subjectively decided by "impartial" judges cannot be considered credible.

The biggest reason why I stopped watching the Olympics goes back to when they decided to allow professional athletes to participate.

Add in state sponsored doping on the part of some nations, Olympic Committees awarding the sites based on which country offers up the best bribe, and you can count me out

Sounds like an American election, the winners do not win.

Boxing has been rigged for a long time. Not all bouts are fixed and Don King was known as one of the biggest. Olympic boxing always has a controversy too.

There have been some excellent moments in my opinion

I loved the swim where the Canadian announcer was so excited the Canadian was beating Phelps and gloating that Phelps didn't even make the podium

Until, somebody told him Phelps won and the Canadian didn't place

And they ussain bolt race where he was so freaking fast he took time to mug for the camera crossing the line
