Nothing fancy, just something simple to use that I can do some basic video editing with. I run windows 7 or XP.

simplest, already in your windows 7 'puter, think it's called 'windows movie maker' ... used it a lot to edit home vids...

It might not be selected as a feature you use and not be loaded.

You can turn on features... control panel, windows and features, turn features on or off.

It's under Media features, I think.

Avidemux works great for me. I use the older version 2.5.6, but the newer version may work well too.

To get clean cuts at edit points, I first use Any Video Converter to convert the full video to Customized MP4 with mpeg4 video codec (AVC screenshots below).
