we have a submission and it has been seconded, was required by our unwritten and largely ignored rules,

thereby, this thread is to vote in a member to the Hall of Fame,

this member is Son Of Gloin,

some people must like his content as he has well over 2x as many likes vs posts

so when he speaks apparently a few listen, or at least go traipsing around liking stuff

All kidding aside, the guy has been with us from the jump, and certainly deserves to be granted entrance IMO

Wow! I certainly did not expect this. Not at all. I don’t know that I deserve such a high GIM honor, considering that I am normally a grouchy SOB, instead of an SOG, but, whatever the outcome, I appreciate the nomination and I say thanks to the obviously blind, but kind hearted individual* who nominated me. You, sir, are a gentleman. (I assume gentleman, as we don’t have a lot of ladies on the site) I have a Heineken in the fridge, which I will pour and drink to the entire GIM forum, later today, however you all vote. Thanks to all.

Showers are anathema to us dwarves. It’s once a year, or special occasions, like weddings and possibly funerals, depending whether or not we liked the deceased. And there’s that whole soap thing.

What is it, specifically you would like to know about Papa Gloin? ‘Cept he liked shiny metals, axes, food and ale, but hated showers like all dwarves. We always go into battle filthy and armed to the teeth.

Being Son of Gloin, it goes without saying that I must be Gimli. An unspoken, obvious fact, in my opinion. I took after me pappy, more than I did mamma.

Big “cat out of bag moment, here.” I am a much bigger fan of LOR than I am of The Hobbit. Can’t explain it, but there it is. It could be because The Hobbit was written more as a children’s tale than LOR. Tolkien took on big metaphysical, religious, philosophical and cultural issues in LOR. I always found that fascinating. Hobbit, not so much. Blasphemy, I know, for a guy who calls himself Son of Gloin.
