Just wondering what you guys are using for personal protection ammunition?

I've used Hornady Critical Duty/Critical Defense just wonding what you guys have used, or keep on hand that may differ.

In my humble opinion, whatever goes bang and is on target consistently is what I go with, but as you all know unless you are Iron's it can be tough to be able to afford trying all of the ammo out there available to try out.

Thanks in advance!

Hornady, Federal, winchester. Just needs to be reliable and not jam.

Critical defense in my 9mm. What ever you decide to run, make sure to at least fire 50 rounds through your firearm to have confidence that it will run reliably. And test your magazines as well. Not all hand guns are the same.

I also have

I like shooting hollow points, and most of that listed above is hollow points. The first one and the last one are not. The first one is flat nose and the last one is round nose. You want some rounds that are solid, not hollow point for winter as HP shot into a heavy jacket just gets clogged up and does not expand normally, so having some that is not HP for winter time is a good idea.

One caveat - I purchased some of this ammo a LONG time ago - ten years or longer - so it's not in current boxes but it is in the original box.

I listed all 40 mainly because I shoot 40 the most. I use SGAMMO and have for the past twenty plus years.

Hope that gives you some ideas. Stack it deep and wide.

7.62 x 39 surplus FMJ. ;)

Cheap and haven't had a single round jam at the range.

Same here.

But I still have some ancient Egyptian 9mm from my early days. I think I'll keep that stuff for fire starter though.

Shoot them in the teeth & the fights usually over...Shot placement trumps ammo choice although it's mandatory to use quality, reliable ammunition.

I gave some to a friend. He said he liked it because when it failed to fire, and it happened often, he could tell if he was flinching.

Just winchester white box ball in my 45 - 230 grain FMJ - Thats how Browning designed it so probably good enough. el cheapo hollow points for the 9mm. Usually sig ammo is the cheapest.
