Home now, suppose to be a front pass through in the night.
Will get up at 0400 and go outside and see if it is raining b4 going back.
Cold ( that would be chilly only to most of you guys here ) I can deal with but wet AND cold,
I learned that one some years ago as lesson 102 on how NOT to be miserable.
Gonna post some pics random here. Took a lot today.

Last pic is Wayne Taylor on the left and driver " Max the Axe".
Taylors are from South Africa and are super nice people.
If you look up Wayne on Google , he has a totally impressive career resume'

4th driver of the season this year.
Jeff Gordon.
His other 1/2 is there behind the guy with the blue vest.
Brought his two kids out to sit in the car for a photo opp.
A good day.
My feet hurt...as in " my dogs are barkin"
Its a big arse place it is.
Beautiful facility after all the last few years of renovation.
Not like the spartan years when I used to go there in the late 70s and 80s.
Will see what 0400 brings as far as a repeat trip.
Regards to all.
Perhaps some more pics tomorrow.

Good to see Jeff still involved in racing. NASCAR probably became unbearable to him after a while. No doubt he still owns some teams. Met him personally. Did a lot of custom work on a house on Manalapan Island for him, only for him to turn it over to his first wife.

Good to see ya up and getting about.

Got up at 3.
Raining a steady downpour and 45 degrees.
Same at 4 but a little less rain.
Same at 5 and 6.
1 hour drive each way and they have developed the old free lots with other crap, like a Bass Pro that is 80% complete, so its farther to walk FROM the car to the stadium and back than all the way down the stadium main breezeway to turn 1. As in almost 1-1/2 miles each way.
Paid parking sold out. Mental note...the objective to extract your $ from u is in play.
With that in mind, stadium is all steel, breezy and the new seats are of course, molded plastic.
Stayed at home. Totally bummed but like I said ...wet AND cold is the worst.
#10 was in lead a bit ago.
Patron car was a big contender.
Crashed in the night with a Porsche.
Gordon got his stint with a lead but even in his own words " i didnt know where to go " in the driving rain he got passed.
Cars all over the place in the rain on the road track.
Max the Axe has been there since 1999 with the team and is retiring. He relieved Gordon and brought back some positioning.
The Taylor boys, sons of Wayne Taylor will close out.
Hopefully they will edge out VisitFlorida.com car for the top slot.
Gonna watch the finish in a bit on tee vee.
Hate that....but " thats the way it is "
Talk later.
Haystack.

Nice finish.
Cut off attempt on the inside of turn 1 in the last 10 minutes or so.
# 10 went inside on the leader.
Will try and post a link later.
Then another close call on the open track.
Difference between # 1 and # 2 in the prototype class
is less than one second at .6 and change after 24 hrs.
How can it get closer than that ?
AND with some touchy feely at the end.
And as you can see from the news...an hour or so b4 the finish the track started to dry and the clouds began to clear.
Stadium is all steel and concrete and still cold with a good breeze.
If I lived closer I wouldnhave headed out again after lunch.
Not in the cards.

The wife has a video or two, will see if I can get them to load later.
Two tickets (,two days used only one ) to infield and stadium and add on for garage was 210. Expensive as everything is these days.
But its the ONLY professsional sport I participate in and to see some of this action...
Plus some time with the wife and she got to see her friend the owners wife and tour the beeeg race semi etc....totally worth it.
Now....back to the rock factory and salt mine...lol.
Regards to all,
Haystack
