trying to search for old topics is severely hampered. results are flooded with msm crap that's never been posted on the site.

imagine that this 'feature' comes with the software. is there a way to turn it off?

I get that issue a lot. It helps immensely if you can recall the poster and check their name in the box.

Searching produces a ton of RSS News feeds. That’s what you’re seeing flood your screen. I personally don’t find them of any value either.

Are you using "advanced search"?
If not, you should be.

Under advanced search, use "search threads".

If you know the posters name, use it.

If you don''t know the posters name, set the ""minimum replies" option to at least 1. (Rss feeds never get replies)

Another way would be to select the specific forum(s) you want to search. The default option is "all forums", but if you uncheck that and select all the others EXCEPT "rss feeds", you shouldn't get the msm crap.

Easy peasy

Select "advanced search" select "search threads" set "minimum number of replies" to at least 1.

No one ever repliess to rss feeds, so that should exclude them.

Also, see my post dated Sept 7th, directly above yours.
