I decided to find out what these are worth. I have seen some sets sell for $650 some less but have never seen a 48 piece set offered.

Unless my math is wrong, at today's spot price, the metal value alone should be about $1000.

Interesting that a bunch of bikes sold for that amount. I damb near bought a bunch of ships 8 years ago and I watched an auction that said it was a smart idea not to buy.

They sold locally for more than the auction. Funny thing is I paid more that that for them all, I think it was 29 or 30 dollars for each delivered.

Purchasing at $18/oz, you can increase your silver weight by 10 oz.
A 20.8 % coin or bullion increase after the 13%+ Ebay & Paypal fees.
I say you did quite well, if you discard the nominals.

in my opinion you could have done much better with your auction......things i would have done would have been...

#1 you listed it in a specific collectable area....thats ok but i would have added a lot of searchable key words to get bullion and art bar collectors to see the auction...or i would have listed it as bullion and added harley verbage so collectors could see it too.....most people search ebay via key words ...its critical to gather the most hits possible

#2 i would have included a frount and back high resolution picture of at least one bar representative of the group, in the world of high resolution cell phones to take good pictures there is no excuse for poor pictures

#3 most auction action happens in the last 1 min of the auction...........when did your auction end....in the middle of a work day.....ebay offers the ability to choose a ending time...i always end it 8-10pm central time....want both the west and east coast people to be home and availible to compete on the auction...

i have bought over the years a lot of precious metals object UNDER spot because of auctions structured like yours

good luck with any future auctions

While all your info was very good[bordering on superb] I do gotta argue this

There are at least two reasons, cheap and stupid. I have a mass supply of both and a record to prove it.

I am not about to argue with a man critiquing himself :)

So, on Ebad I sold my Australia Lunar Series 1 set, $799.00 + $10 S+H.
Nominally, I will break even after fees.
However... with the price of silver low I will be able to turn 12oz, into 40oz.
Niue's Athena Owl 1 oz coin two sealed tubes of 'em, with change left over.
I am loving it, makes it feel almost worth it to get corn holed by Ebad & PP.
28 oz closer to my objective.
