December 13, New Jersey/Delaware Bay Fishing Report with Jim Hutchinson, Jr.
The Fisherman Magazine

Published on Dec 13, 2018
Weekly reports for the New Jersey, Delaware Bay region at
http://www.thefisherman.com/index.cfm...

The late fall “mad dog” bite on surf stripers has been mostly a whimper as we head into winter, leading many surfcasters to believe the soprano is tuning up along the beach. Thin metals and teasers are still scoring fish out front at first light, but the biggest stripers are out in deeper water off Cape May County where jigging and trolling continue to score double-digit class bass.

The question as we enter the home stretch for the holidays is, are there still a few fish to the N/NE feeding on herring?

The offshore trips for humpback sea bass, porgies, pollock and cod continue out of ports in Monmouth and Ocean County, while the blackfish bite from 70 feet to 17 fathoms continues as the best bet along the New Jersey, Delaware Coast.

The spin and jig action has been impressive; get on ‘em now before the cold and fishing pressure pushes the bite offshore.

Fished with the Reaper for tog on a WAY rougher than forecasted day, deadliest catch style. The gopro doesnt do justice to the waves that day.. somehow none of us really puked (I puked just a little) and somehow there was a bunch of snow waiting for us at the dock. we got our boat limit and headed home.

December 20, 2018 New England Fishing Report with Toby Lapinski
The Fisherman Magazine

Published on Dec 20, 2018
Be sure to follow the weekly fishing reports across New England at http://www.thefisherman.com/index.cfm....

We are right around the corner from the beginning of the winter fishing and boating show season, and we’ve just about got our final schedule lined up. Stay tuned for next week’s video in which I should have the official list of when and where you can see The Fisherman Magazine this winter.

Over the winter months, when the fishing options here in New England can be limited at times, I plan to fill in the weekly videos with some how-to’s and fishing tips from time to time. I am working out some of the items which I plan to cover, and if you have a suggestion for a how-to or fishing tip that you’d like to see featured in the future, drop it in the comments section down below or shoot me an email at tlapinski@thefisherman.com and if I choose one of your suggestions, I’ll be sure to give you a shout out in the video.

As has become the norm, when weather is good, so is the fishing and that’s what we had over the weekend on the cod grounds off Block Island. It wasn’t any sort of lights-out, historic fishing, but there were fish to be had with a range of species landed from cod to haddock to sea bass and big scup as well as some other miscellaneous bottom-dwellers. While most cod topped around 12 to 15 pounds, there was word of fish to almost 30 pounds by a boat that took a ride to some deep-water wrecks. While this week has seen a bit of a cold snap, the weekend forecast looks like it could be warm but the old wind machine is going to be ramped up with predicted winds on the cod grounds expected to exceed 30 knots coupled with 10-plus-foot seas. I think it’s a pretty good bet that the boats won’t be getting out, but if things don’t turn out as bad as it looks right now, then by all means call your boat of choice and see if they plan to sail!

Sweetwater anglers continue to do well with some of the smaller, more protected lakes holding ice through the weekend while most other anglers have been finding good action in open-water scenarios with pike, bass, trout and panfish providing steady action. Fisherman contributor Nick Kanaras reported finding about 5-6 inches of ice up in the Northwest corner of Connecticut on his first ice outing of the year and ended up with a ton of perch all on soft plastics. No word on how well the ice fared after the rainy weather of the weekend, or how it will be after this weekend, so as always be sure to exercise extreme caution when heading out onto the hard water.

And if you’re unable to find any fishable, frozen lakes, open-water action remains good, too. There are trout and bass to be had most everywhere, and Capt. Chris Nashville from the Goose Hummock reports that he and Danny from the shop hit Nickerson State Park over the weekend for some trout.

Remember that if I didn’t get to your species or location of choice this week, you can always check out the complete fishing reports from Maine to the Mid-Atlantic at http://www.thefisherman.com/index.cfm....

December 20, 2018 Long Island Metro Fishing Report with Fred Golofaro
The Fisherman Magazine

Published on Dec 20, 2018
Weekly fishing reports for Long Island and Metro New York at http://www.thefisherman.com/index.cfm...

Mixed bag catches of cod, porgies, sea bass, ling, hake, pollock, cunners (bergalls), whiting and mackerel off of Block Island and Coxes Ledge for Montauk boats, and jumbo sea bass with some porgies, cod, pollock and ling on offshore wrecks for open boats out of Shinnecock, Captree, Freeport and Point Lookout. There was some decent blackfish action on fish to 7 or 8 pounds in 80 to 110 feet of water off the West End, but you better hurry. The last day to fish for tog is Saturday.

Herring are ripe for pickling with reports coming from many areas, including most North Shore harbors and bays from Mt. Sinai to Little Neck. On the South Shore, the Jones Beach, Magnolia, Coney Island and 69th Street piers, and the Sheepshead Bay boat basin all yielded herring this week. And, while it looked like striped bass were out of the picture, there was a flurry of action with shorts at Breezy Point on the weekend

December 20, 2018 New Jersey/Delaware Bay Fishing Report with Jim Hutchinson, Jr.
The Fisherman Magazine

Published on Dec 20, 2018
Weekly fishing reports for NJ, DE Bay region at
http://www.thefisherman.com/index.cfm...

While striped bass reports have been on the decline in recent days, there’s still a shot at seven holiday fishes in the days ahead (weather permitting). Long-range offshore trips have been producing humpback sea bass, porgies, a handful of pollock, both white and red hake, and a few good cod. While this solid half-dozen is mostly a headboat option, there are a few charter boats running out of Jersey ports making that 60- to 70-mile trip east as well.

Option #7 and nearer shore is tautog, where the best bite has been around 17 fathoms; pressure on some snags and cooling temperatures are pushing those blackfish a bit deeper and farther east where action will continue into January and February. Don’t forget, you only have until December 31 to get in on the black sea bass bite!

Stripers? Okay, they haven’t completely disappeared; still a few on tubes on umbrellas and mojos of Cape May County, while Monmouth and Ocean County surfcasters are still picking at a fish or two on tins and teasers. From our family to yours, have a very Merry Christmas!

CATCH & COOK: COBIA (30 Species In 30 Days Challenge Ep 6)
EliasVFishing

Published on Dec 19, 2018
Pulled this one off on a cold and windy morning. Stuck to my guns with the vertical jigging and it worked out. Pitched 1/4 oz to 3/8 oz jigs into a channel for a mix of jacks and cobia. Also navigating through the bull sharks was key.

Fish were caught on Zoom Flukes, Elias shads in white and ghost mullet.

Cobia cut and portioned (most given to Bobby) I just seasoned it with seasoned salt corn meal and fried it on the cast iron. Amazing fish.

Afternoon session was a not so eventful bluefish catch upping the count to 13.

2 Record BREAKING Fish in 1 Day! Catch Clean Cook (GIANT Flounder)
Landshark Fishing

Published on Dec 17, 2018
I caught two personal record breaking fish in one day and landed my PB fish! With a cold front rolling in, the conditions were perfect to fish for doormat flounder at Sebastian Inlet. These Southern Flounder migrate south with cooling waters. We caught a mix of Gulf Flounder and Southerns, not to be confused with Summer Flounder aka Fluke in the Northeast! Cast netting Live bait in the morning was key and Pilchards + Greenies proved to be best bait for these flatfish. In this catch clean cook I show you how to fillet and debone a flounder. This is vital to make stuffed flounder! I also have another catch and cook coming soon, with the smaller flounder we caught!

Which Tastes Better??? Rock Crab or Dungeness Crab? Catch n Cook Taste Test!!
Fisherman's Life

Published on Dec 19, 2018
Always wanted to see what the difference is between Dungeness Crab and Rock Crab. We caught a few nice male Dungenesss crabs, some Brown, Yellow and Red Rock Crabs also. To prepare the food, we steamed the crab together and first tried the meat without any butter. The only flavor added was some saltwater, and then we finished off the crab with a bit of butter. I was pleasantly surprised by the results!

"Extremely ROUGH weather conditions" !!
Poor baby, I've spent many a day fishing the open ocean in a much larger boat & we were taking water over the bow !
Truly that ocean was not bad at all.
