Vid from the link. Is this real? A crowd of people fighting over tickets to buy a gold coin.

It really occurred. The coin was hyped in the dealer community and the Mint released the first ones at the ANA convention. Since there was a buyer limit dealers paid shills to go and buy the coins for them. They would then be placed in third party 'slabs' denoting that they were first day of issue. These first day of issue coins went for multiples of the cost of the coin without the slab.

Ain't that America

I was wondering because none of those people looked like they'd be interested in buying gold coins. At first I thought it was something similar to this. lol
