Battery Operated Inverter - The Dewalt DCB1800 is a battery powered 1800 watt portable power station that is fueled by 4 Dewalt 20v or FlexVolt batteries. This perfectly silent unit delivers 1800W continuous and 3600 peak AC power. Making the power source more usable on the jobsite, the DCB1800 also functions as a multiport battery charger for one to four 20V MAX batteries. The charger will charge all the batteries at the same time and will charge 4 completely dead 20v 4.0 Ah batteries in two hours. What makes this simply amazing is that it requires no gas to run, emits no engine fumes or noise. We felt weird the first time we used it because there is no noise or heat.

The Dewalt Portable Power Source creates a 15A circuit branch in a modified sine wave that is compatible with both standard and electronically controlled variable speed tools. The unit has built in protection against overload.

Favorite Tool of 2016!

This power source is so useful in many different areas that we feel this is our favorite tool of 2016. The ability to produce 120v AC power in almost any dry area allows for almost any job to be complete at any location. Beyond the jobsite, a small business can now have quiet power in areas where there are a lot of people. As a safety or backup device, this power station can allow for sump pump use or power 15 amp items around your home when the power is out. Camping or tailgating will now have silent power for crock pots or even small refrigerators.

While this tool has made us excited, like many items there are some things to know about it. First, there is only one outlet. That is not a big deal as we feel in most areas, one item will be about all this will ever be used for. Second, this power source is not a "smart" power source in the use of the batteries connected. You must have 4 batteries in the unit and the power source will drain each battery the same amount. To clarify, our first test with this power source was running a large wet dry vac with (3) 4.0 Ah 20v batteries and (1) Flexvolt 6.0 Ah battery. When the unit shut down, the three 20v batteries were dead and the FlexVolt still had 2 bars of fuel left. So this unit is only going to last as long as the weakest battery in the power source.

When used for charging, one simply plugs in an extension cord to the male 120v plug and the unit will charge up to 4 batteries in parallel. Meaning it will charge up to four batteries at the same time at 2 amps. While it can take upwards of two hours to charge all 4 batteries, the benefit is that they are all charged at the same time allowing them to be removed when needed, even if they are only partially charged.

The internet changed almost all of our lives and we feel this unit will have a similar effect on the jobsite or at home for a battery backup!

First Battery SDS Max Drill - The Milwaukee M18 FUEL 1-9/16” SDS Max Rotary Hammer is a cordless tool that many contractors, excavators and concrete specialist will enjoy on the jobsite. There is no need to a generator or temporary power to drill larger holes in concrete! This is a time savings for them. The 2717 has a max twist bit size of 1-9/16” and a max core bit size of 4". The tool was designed to drill as fast as a corded SDS Max rotary hammers, provide corded durability, and give solid battery life to complete jobs.

SDS Max drills have many different ratings and it is important that you purchase the right sized rotary hammer for your application. We have been on many jobsites watching a crew member try to drill a large hole with too small of a drill. The smaller drill slows the process down drastically. In one case, introducing the proper sized drill cut an excavation firms drilling time from 45 minutes to 10 minutes. In today's economy and bidding market, the cost of that hole dropped significantly and production increased.

The M18 FUEL 1-9/16 SDS Max Rotary Hammer is currently the largest of the Milwaukee cordless SDS family of rotary hammers.

Where Does The 2717 Work Best

While we proved that a 1-7/16" hole 16" deep can be completed in a decent amount of time with the new Milwaukee SDS Max rotary hammer, we feel it is important that we discuss where this rotary hammer really likes to live. When using twist bits, the M18 powered drill really performs best at 1-1/4" and below. Using Core bits, 2-3/4" and below were the top performers. Those sized bits were more suited to deliver the 5 ft lbs of impact with the added friction the dust creates.

Similar to towing with pickup trucks, towing at the absolute max rating is normally not a thrilling experience. The brakes, engine torque and suspension are working at the max and the end experience at the user level is not overly impressive. If one would drop down to half the recommended max level, the performance and overall experience is much better. Same philosophy with almost all rotary hammers. While they can drill at the max rating, it is normally much slower and sometimes mind numbing.

This cordless rotary hammer makes many of the SDS Plus models loos small and powerless. The 9.0 Ah High demand battery is really what is making these larger tools possible. Since the battery is 3P, has 3 layers of batteries that equal 18 volts each, to spread the load across, the battery will last longer and not time out due to overload or heat. This tool can be used with smaller batteries, but for drilling, it really takes the punch out of the tool. Chipping was not that much different. The kit we went over in our video would be highly recommended for use in the professional field.

This is an amazing lamp that will really light up a space. It is heavy in both actual weight and amount of cash it will remove from your wallet. Since you can plug it in and run it, or just use batteries it would have been really nice for this unit to charge the battery too.

The One-Key app really provides a lot of nice functions to the light. Besides controlling the light functions, if the lamp is plugged in to 110v power, you also have access to many timing funtions.

I like that the lamp will automatically switch from 110v power to battery power if you lose the 110v power. It does not drain the battery while plugged in which is nice.

This is a fantastic light.

This light is simply amazing. It is so bright. The TrueView color makes it even better. This is a very heavy duty work light. It has a place for a shoulder strap, which makes sense because you will not want to carry it in your hand for too long.
The spot mode reaches super far. The flood mode has an amazing amount of light saturation over a wide area. I can't say enough how much I like this light..

Sawzall It Right! - The One-Key Sawzall offers some unique features to a Sawzall that will allow you to cut material faster, but also increase blade life. In our testing, we took an experienced construction worker and placed them up against the One-Key Sawzall to see who would cut faster and longer. Using standard metal blades, the experienced user had a slight lead on the first cut completion, but the One Key Sawzall quickly caught up and passed him in the second cut. The One-Key Sawzall allowed the blade to keep cutting for 4 cuts in thick metal while the experienced user was only able to get 3 cuts. So blade like is significantly increased by having the proper speed rather than feathering the trigger.

Beyond speed of cut and blade life, One-Key allows you to inventory, track and manage tools. The ability to save purchase information can be a huge help with warranty service. It is a mixed bag of users who like One-Key and we know that users will only adjust the Sawzall when they are going to do a lot of the same cuts and would never mess with it for a single cut. With the 4 modes, some, might set it up for different materials and leave it be. However you might use the system, being able to have 4 modes is a benefit over the standard FUEL Sawzall.

The Milwaukee One-Key Sawzall is different than most other tools we have used with One-Key. The standard fuel Sawzall does not have different modes and speeds, while the One-Key Unit does have 4 speeds. A benifit to all users, even if you dislike One-Key. One-Key gives the user the chance to make this tool perform exactly how they would like for the task at hand. The ability to choose blades, material being cut, and a cut brake gives contractors the ability to drop this tool in the hands of a less experienced user and have disposable blades last longer. This also speeds up construction time saving man hours for the contractor and consumer.

Sawzall History

The Sawzall was invented in 1952 by two engineers working for Milwaukee, Jerome L. Schnettler and Edward W. Ristow. Ristow had been adapting wobble-plate mechanisms to the tool's design, but he wanted to create a powerful, portable, high-speed saw that would cut wood, metal, or composite materials with a reciprocating action. A number of reciprocating drill attachments was already available, but there were no independent tools based on this technology. Schnettler jumped in and produced all the detailed production drawings for every part in the prototype Sawzall.

The Sawsall really caught on in the 1960's and has been refined from then on into what we now see on the market. These tools, mostly used for rough cuts and demolition, have been produced to be easier to use with less vibration felt by the user. The cordless power is increasing that the usefulness of these tools keeps expanding, even into pruning trees and other non-construction jobs.

This is a fantastic light. If you have the M12 batteries you will not regret picking this up. At 1000 lumens on high with the TrueView color, it really lights up a space.
It is durable. I dropped this light twice from over six feet high and it still runs. It has plenty of ways to hang or angle for the best light. It runs on all the M12 batteries, even the larger pack size. Milwaukee is killing it with their lights.

Put the coping saw away! Coping or scribing your millwork/trimwork by hand can be a tedious and meticulous process. Unless you have years of experience, it can take some serious time in order to get quality results. The Scribemaster Cope-Pro allows anyone to easily cope or scribe millwork/trimwork using a 1/4" collet router with amazing results. With minimal experience in cutting copes on millwork/trimwork, we can tell you that once you get used to the unit and figure out the process, it will save you incredible amounts of time. The Scribemaster Cope-Pro is a super ingenious jig that is very simple to use. We should note, it took us 3-4 times using the jig to get the process down and start getting acceptable results. With other abilities and conveniences, the Scribemaster Cope-Pro allows the user to easily tackle the coping or scribing work in a fraction of the time.

How does it work?

The heart and soul of the Scribemaster Cope-Pro is the metal combs. These combs are allowed to slide in the comb assembly and are pushed up against the profile of your millwork/trimwork utilizing the included metal tool. This tool is nearly identical to a metal paint scraper but has a 90 degree corner and also a radius corner. The radius edge allows the user to push the combs with easy and speed. The 90 degree corner allows the user to push the individual combs into the millwork/trimwork, this makes the profile match exactly.

Once all the combs are in place, the user then tightens the handles and locks the combs in position. Then loosening the comb assembly, you flip it so the combs that were touching the millwork/trimwork are now facing the opposite way. Then lock the comb assembly down with the two locking knobs.

The 1/4" shank bit is put into your router with a 30mm bushing (not included) on the baseplate. The 30mm will fit in a hole of the baseplate of the jig. This baseplate has a pin on it that will follow the combs matching the exact profile of your millwork/trimwork. Powering on the router, move the pin along the combs from left to right. At the end of the cut, your bit will go into the speltch block/sacrificial board to prevent tearout. Power off the router and pull your material out. Test the fit and tune if necessary.

Is it worth it?

Let's address this question into two categories: a craftsman that completes coping and scribing work on a daily basis. In other words, they are extremely experienced. And on the other hand you have someone that is in between me and the experienced craftsman. This person has to cope and scribe every now and again.
Experienced craftsman

The experienced craftsman completes copes and scribes on a daily basis. They have the process down and can do it as fast as possible by hand and get the results they are looking for. With confidence, we don't think this product is right for that person. BUT, if they were to bring the Scribemaster Cope-Pro on the jobsite, they can place a more inexperienced person on the jig and free themselves up to do other tasks or manage the jobsite.

The now and againer

The craftsman that does coping or scribing every now and again may have the confidence to tackle a cope and scribe but it takes them a bit more time to get setup and complete the task. The Scribemaster Cope-Pro is exactly for them. They can pull out the jig, take a bit of time to set it up and they can produce copes that are fast and accurate.

Conclusion

If you are someone that values your time and wants to make the process of coping and scribing easier, then we would encourage you to check out the Scribemaster Cope-Pro. It is worth mentioning that this jig comes with a tenoning accessory but we don't think someone is going to buy the jig for that, they are going to buy the jig for coping and scribing.
