I know running out of current year silver eagles is not without precedent but it typically happens in the Fall. If memory serves early in the year availability issues leading to `sold out` can be counted on one hand. I'm sure it's the planchets but is this `possible` indicator of silver supply shortages.....i can hear the peanut gallery already...agaugal we have heard about an shortages before and didn't amount to hill of beans. Yep, very true until the day it isn't true anymore.....that day will be spectacular to watch the kitko charts....yeehah. Not saying it's now.....but ya think we all will get forwarned.....

Sales have been lower the last few years so any spike is probably unexpected by them but you would think they would keep a little more inventory on hand anyway. Any idea what the actual sales numbers were for jan?

Many are into this JIT just in time inventory thing, apparently the cost of carrying inventory, probably doesn't know enough to load up on a years worth of planchets at 14 either, but storing billions of minted unused clad dollars is apparently ok. We see things like this happen when bean counters get put in charge and you only have that one supplier who is also constrained by manufacturing capacity, and has other customers who (who knows), being private industry, might even pay more per panchlet.

I'm just thinking out loud here..

I’m wondering if this is done on purpose to increase demand/price.

I guess the next question is, when will they resume production?
